This story needs to be heard

April 1, 2011 I make my son a doctor appointment because his temperature is 102.1 and I find out that he has a double ear infection later that day his temperature has been going up and down almost two days now so then on April 2 ,2011 5:30 in the morning my 15 month old son is screaming crying not sleeping I give him Tylenol and then take his temp it was 103.1 and it is just going up so I stop taking his temperature and get him ready for a trip to the hospital. We get there just before 6:00 or exactly on the dot. We wait probably 20 minutes before we get seen to go in the triage room, when we finally get there the nurse takes all our information and then checks his temperature with an ear thermometer which is not so accurate as a rectal temperature so after that we go back to the waiting room another 20 minutes to half hour then finally we get back to a room. wait probably an hour close to two and while I am waiting I can hear the nurses complaining about all the other patients that were there, I looked outside of my door and saw that there were only four patients I heard the nurses complaining about the one patient woman who I am guessing was to scared to change her bandage it looked like she had stitches put in or something previous to coming to the ER. that morning and then there was an old man who had a nose bleed I am thinking to my self how unprofessional none us are getting seen there. If I can remember there were only four nurses in the nurses station and no doctors around why were there no doctors? Hardly any patients that were not even getting treated by anyone, so why is it that there is no one to come right away to a infant child who has a double ear infection and feverish, I have had enough I finally go up to the nurses desk and ask "how long is it going to take for someone to even come and take my sons vital signs" well one of the nurses replies to me well its here in his records and everything is normal, well I was so furious I argued with the nurse that his vitals were never taken in the triage room only his temperature with a ear thermometer and that the nurse lied and I said "how on earth could someone just make up my sons vital signs, do you know how many people would cut off their foot just to have the job that the nurse in the triage room has and just screwed up and made up an infant child's vital signs". I go back into the room with my son and wait probably 10 minutes and the nurse that I just talked with had the audacity to ask another nurse to go check my sons vitals 10 minutes after I just tell her my son has not been seen and she asked someone else to check my son these nurses are not with anyone else all four of them heard and saw me talk to the one nurse that my son has not been seen why has it taken this long why have they not jumped in and cared for my son, how dare this lady I am thinking in my head I just told you my sons vital signs were never taken you are a nurse clearly not waiting on anyone why could you not go check my son out ? I am getting very upset here so finally a nurse does come and take my sons vitals and his temp was not 98 like the previous nurse said it was it was 101.1 and after the nurse leaves it is close to another hour that we do not get seen by an actual doctor and when the doctor does come in to check on my son he orders him some Tylenol with codeine in it, and a white blood cell count and said that his ears were hurting him and that the antibiotics just have not kicked in yet so he leaves another 20 to 30 minutes go by before my son gets his Tylenol and then almost 40 minutes go by before someone comes in to take my sons white blood cell count and I am just vivid mad. after all that my son is finally starting to not be in pain and is a little chipper I would say a good hour goes by before we are even released from the hospital his white blood cell count was normal and his temp was going up and down because the antibiotics have not fully kicked in yet so it is the 11:00am by the time we get home and we only live not even 30 minutes away from the hospital.

I am very up set why did this have to happen to a little scared child in pain. why has no one called out to me to apologize even after I complained to the hospital apparently the nurse that messed up her job in the first place never go into trouble or talked to about making up my sons vital signs because she never took one step to reach out to me or apologize, that is a hospital and she works there so obviously she is capable of getting a hold of my information like my address phone number, pretty sure an email address if she wanted to to write me and say sorry for not doing her job. If this were not me and were someone with money or say this happens to someone famous all hell would break lose it would be on the news and they would probably try and sue or just get a settlement or something along the lines of not having to pay for the horrible visit. so why on earth can I not even get an apology maybe a card saying sorry or how about a stuffed animal for my son who was not even cared for. If I wanted to wait that long and have my son be in pain and just cry for that long I would have just waited till the morning and made him a doctors appointment but no I thought that 103,1 temperature that was continuing to go up was and emergency so I went to the hospital where I am guessing was not an emergency because it took hours to get seen and the other people in the emergency room were not getting treated so what is the point of having a hospital.

And I would just like to say that I myself was just in the hospital right before Christmas and it turned out that my heart rate was 128 my blood pressure was high I was breathing heavily which caused me to lose to much carbon dioxide which cause my feet and hands to go numb I was severely dehydrated and I had the worst case of strep throat to have. Now what if my son had a heart rate that was high or blood pressure no one would know because it was never taken thank God that my son was not really in any serious danger a High temperature is serious but yes thank God that nothing was actually wrong with him. what if is all I can keep thinking about!

Oh yes I also forgot a man that came to the ER. while I was in the back with my son I saw him in the triage room and then he went back to the waiting room and then a little later back to the triage room to get place for a actual room and the nurse lied to him and said sorry the ER just got a little hectic and I am thinking how can it be hectic there is only four patients back here no doctors and no nurses checking on us. So what in the world is the problem why is there no care in a hospital emergency room.
