Hip pain and lump in 21 y/o Please Read

Well, I have no idea if this is normal so if someone can chime in, thank you!

I am a healthy 21 y/o female. I am however built like an hourglass and
have always tended to carry extra weight in my hips. I am only about
20 lbs overweight and exercising nearly daily (walks, lifting,
jogging).

A while ago I noticed that I get a strong, sharp pain in my right hip
area (it shoots down the front of the thigh as well) when laying on my
back with the leg bent. It occasionally occurs randomly as well when
I'm just walking about, but I can guarantee it will hurt if I flex the
leg while lying prone.
This has been going on for about two months, possibly longer. No real
increase in pain.

A month ago, I then noticed an oblong, painless lump at the top of my
right thigh, almost near to where the leg connects to the trunk. It
was soft and not present on my other leg. I figured it was just a
weird fat lump thing and have shrugged off.

Well, yesterday it occurred to me that this painless lump has got a
bit bigger, and I have been loosing weight (presumably because I want
too so that can't be the reason for the increase)It is still a
firm-ish, soft consistency and is hard to notice when I lay down, but
VERY visible when I am standing...and again, it's not present on my
other leg.

So...what could this be?

Can normal fat lumps appear on one thigh and not the other? Do any of
you have this?

I will tell my doc if it continues growing, or in any case bring it up
to her in October when I go for a pap (my first...yech). I'm just
curious if the weird hip pain and this lump might be related.
