Rectovaginal Fistula Repair questions? Finding the right specialist.

am 32 years old and I had my first baby when I was 26. I ended up
having a 4th stage larceration, vaccum was used and episiodomy (sorry
if misspelled). After a week I came home and realized I was having
leakage after I had a bowel movement through the Vagina. Although this
is not very common my aunt also had this problem. So, I am not sure if
it's something that is inheritied or not. Well, immediatley went to
the emergency room and they referred me to a Colorectal specialist.
well he found the fistula but said I needed to wait at least 3 months
after all the swelling had went down before he could fix it, and at
that time he would have to do an ultrasound to see if it had went
through the rectum muscle. Well beyond my control had to wait because
I lost my insurance after 3 months with the State, and truthfully
after that I was embarassed and afraid to go back. Now, it's 5 yerars
later and I talked to someone that had to have perinealplasty and a
rectocile. So, I figured I would try the same doctor. This doctor is
an OB. She was unable to actually find the fistula but she said the
perineal was extremely thin with alot of scar tissue. she said that
she would go in and reconstruct it and during the surgery would be
able to tell where the fistula was even if she had to use dye to find
the leakage. I was wondering what everyone else had went to OB or
Colorectal specialist? After all the problems I have saw on here I am
afraid I would be going to the wrong specialist for the problem? Has
anyone had their repair through an OB? What should I expect after the
surgery? I am so scared of this surgery and the recovery. I hope it
won't make things worse. Anyone please hel
